Vintage Chart for Nantais

2018 *** Sometimes compared in France to the historic 1947 and the 1990 vintages. Hot, dry summer gave large crop of unusually ripe wines. Cool nights kept freshness. Volumes are back to normal.
2017 * Frost reduced yields from 10-90% depending on location, but vineyards that did not get frost and that picked before heavy rain on September 3 should make good wine.
2016 Very small yields due to frost in April and rain in May and June. Smallest crop since 1949.
2015 ** Very good vintage, just below excellent because of rain at harvest.
2014 *** Excellent vintage with round, ripe wines; alcohol higher than usual. Perhaps best of the decade.
2013 Vintage spoiled by autumn rain.
2012 *** Low yields but Muscadet the best appellation in the Loire, because early harvest avoided problems with rain in other regions.
2011 Early harvest gave wines on thinner and more acidic side.
2010 *** Ripe wines with good concentration.
2009 *** Top vintage for Muscadet, although wines much richer than usual.
2008 Very low crop because of April frost that destroyed much of the crop.
